Upcoming events you won't want to miss... Happy fall Reader! Within the few days after HPMKT winds down each April and October, I'm back on the phone setting up time with my industry colleagues and friends to debrief: what really happened in High Point beyond all the inspiring product introductions (which is YES! a huge topic of conversation), but more often, we're putting our heads together to unpack the undercurrent of market—what we overheard in the bathroom line, what people were talking about on the shuttle, what were standout moments beyond the showrooms.
As you know, HPMKT isn't just about new products and parties, it's about ideas and innovation.
It's a chance to talk about the business of design with the people who are actively, passionately, shaping our industry in the space between all the glamour and galas. I'm always curious what's top of mind for my design clients and product brands after they leave an industry event. What's driving their growth? Challenging their revenue models? What new ideas and innovations are they learning about that don't go home in just another canvas tote, but start to take shape from the sketches and notes hurriedly scribbled during presentations, and then more deeply fleshed out in the plane or on the drive back home. I'm excited about the impact these conversations at market have on their business potential—and that's why each market I invest in guiding the conversations that shape our industry. This fall, I'll be speaking with some of the industry's brightest minds and savviest business people about their journeys, their failures, their big wins. Their ideas! I hope you'll save some time to come to attend the events that fit in with the ideas you've been considering in your own business. Stop in, say hello, and enjoy the generous hospitality of the host showrooms while you browse new introductions and all the great new designer collaborations (Cortney Bishop for Amadi Carpets, anyone!??). Here's this fall's lineup: Friday, October 24 9-5pm | Science in Design Symposium: When Design Heals (Congdon Yards) Join me for a day-long educational symposium to learn how to turn science into clear, compelling messages your clients actually understand and will say yes to. I’ll be leading a session on Marketing, Messaging, & Science for your business, alongside experts connecting biophilia, color, and neuroaesthetics to human health. If you’re ready to position your design practice as a wellness strategy—not simply a source of beauty—this day is for you. The full-day educational experience is $97 (early bird pricing has been extended). Even better, every attendee receives a $200 credit toward the Science in Design Certification Program (valued at $895), making this an exceptional investment in professional development. See the full symposium agenda and get your tickets here >> Friday, October 24 3pm | American Leather Showroom (Showplace) Want better clients, higher visibility, and a design practice that lights you up? The secret isn’t doing everything (oh no no no!)...it’s doing YOUR thing 💪 I'll be moderating a panel of pros who found their focus and turned it into success that speaks volumes. Join us! Saturday, October 25 8:30am | Verellen Furniture Showroom (515 S Hamilton) I never shy away from the deep research that leads to truly innovative insights, and I've been diving more and more into the mindset and psychology behind why we buy, especially within a new generation of affluence. So when my friends at Verellen asked me to create a CEU presentation for their fall event, I couldn't wait to uncover how luxury has evolved post-2020 and how designers can align enduring craftsmanship with modern priorities in their sales conversations. Seats are very limited, save yours here >> Sunday, October 26 9am | American Leather Showroom (Showplace) Pretty doesn’t convert, but your story sure will! Build your brand voice in real time in this interactive workshop with two of my favorite industry darlings, and leave with copy you can't wait to can use. Sunday, October 26 2pm | HPMKT's The Point (Commerce Ave between Wrenn and Main) Back by popular demand! Give clients a reason to believe with simple science to back your choices and get stronger yeses. Learn how to elevate your design decisions by using science-backed principles and come away with new vocabulary, greater confidence, and strategies that increase profit in your business. We’ve entered a new era of design; one where interior designers aren’t just creating beautiful spaces but building brand empires. Turn your point of view into partnerships that grow reach and revenue. RSVP here (and receive a free gift if you're one of the first 25 people to arrive!) >> Monday, October 27 1pm | Crystorama Showroom (IHFC) Light is mood, memory, and money. It's more than just a finishing touch, it’s a powerful driver of design impact and profitability. Learn how these two celebrated pros approach lighting design in our intimate panel discussion! ____ Many of these conversations are four to six (!!) months in the making...so the minute the showroom doors close at the end of October, I'll be back at work curating the conversations for the spring of 2026 with you in mind. I can't wait to see you next week in High Point, Reader! To your next big idea ✨ Ericka PS...whether it's your first market or your 50th, get yourself organized with the Cool Girl’s Guide to High Point Market - Fall Edition.
